Francis Kurkdjian was one of the last to incorporate oud into his palette of fragrance notes. He recognized its unique potential and tamed it with his own "Western" sensibility. He saw in it a rough, primitive aspect, an animalistic nature, beneath which lies extraordinary sensuality.
Francis Kurkdjian's oud is born from a marble palace adorned with gold. Surrounding it are only a dark, starry sky and whimsical, sandy dunes. The scent and the overwhelming desert silence. This palace is embodied in a beautiful bottle adorned with a golden cap, reminiscent of the style of the tales from One Thousand and One Nights.
In this composition, Kurkdjian included the rarest oud from Laos, combining it with Florentine iris and Haitian vetiver, Atlas cedarwood, Indonesian patchouli, saffron, and elemi. The fragrance is exceptional, intensely sensual, and long-lasting. Truly worthy of a master!
Francis Kurkdjian's Oud is the winner of the 2013 FIFI award in the UK—the "Oscar" of the perfume industry in the "Best Independent Fragrance" category.
