Cologne
Light, fresh, discreet and delicate, Cologne is associated to the idea of scented fresh water. The name also evokes inspiring suggestions of sunshine, the sea, lavender fields and zesty citrus groves. Exactly what its inventor, Jean- Marie Farina had in mind when he began marketing the first bottles of his Aqua Mirabilis three hundred years ago, in 1709.

The name “Eau de Cologne” (Water from Cologne) was given by the soldiers of Louis XV who brought back this incredible perfume from the city of Cologne during the “Seven years war” and introduced it to the Royal court of France.

Cologne has now become a generic term, but there is actually only one original formula which has bewitched distinguished clients from every era: Charles VI, Louis XV of France, Frederick William Ist of Prussia, Napoleon Bonaparte, Mark Twain, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Konrad Adenauer, Indira Gandhi, Romy Schneider and Princess Diana to name but a few.

Jean-Marie Farina described cologne as: "My perfume is like an Italian spring morning after the rain: it recalls oranges, lemons, grapefruits, bergamot, cedar trees, flowers and herbs of my Earth. It refreshes and stimulates the senses and imagination."

Construction
The fragrance opens with sunny citrus notes of Calabrian Bergamot and Sicilian Lemon, with green hints of Petit Grain from Paraguay and bright hints of Neroli from Morocco.
Top notes of the fragrance are highlighted by aromatic notes of Lavender and Estragon blended with spicy notes of Pink Pepper. Into the heart blooms a superb Indian Jasmin enveloped by precious Incense and Mate’ essences. The intense, deep dry-down of Patchouly and Oakmoss is warmed by Ladbanum and Amber. Exquisite Musky notes round the composition and give a special persistence uncommon for a cologne.
