It was a holiday trip of peace and quiet on the Greek Island of Hydra, something he desperately needed. With the crystalline sea protecting this paradisiacal white island of simplistic beauty, it was his sanctuary. The warm air, bright sun and little beach being his only companions for a few weeks of reflection and relaxation. As he walked down the narrow stone steps of his garden, only metres from the beach, he gazed at the splendour of the sea as the sun, slowly setting, created a glorious burst of orange colour in the sky. He was accompanied only by the rhythmic sound of the waves gently breaking on the golden sand and the sweet heady scent of jasmine flowers and hyacinths growing in pots in his garden completing this moment of idyllic bliss. Sipping his refreshing watermelon juice, adorned with fresh mint leaves from his garden, he thought how life was good. Hydra his peace and tranquillity.

Born in Constantinople where he lived during his early years before moving to Athens. Although of Greek heritage, Ilias has lived in many countries. He possesses a rich multicultural outlook developed naturally during his childhood and holds a genuine mastery of languages.

His fascination with fragrances was sparked at his father’s flavours and fragrance factory in Istanbul, where he interned each summer. After studying perfumery at ISIP Ilias lived between Paris and Geneva and now New York. His passion for his craft is combined with his constant thirst for knowledge, believing everything is inspiring. Philosophy, a word for this fine perfumer. His generosity of spirit is matched only by the gratitude he feels for the privilege of practicing such a beautiful craft.
