THE STORY
Crossing the busy streets of this city decorated in red, he was immediately hit by the frenetic, yet strangely organised, movement of his new neighbours.
The cacophony of urban life was loud, overwhelming but exciting. Mobile phones and designer handbags mingled amongst the aromas of spicy beef and dim sum. The juxtaposition of contemporary glass-clad skyscrapers, haute-couture shops and luxury cars harmoniously cohabitating with the myriad of traditional street vendors, barrows and bicycles was a unique phenomenon of modern-day Shanghai. He stopped by a fruit stall, marvelling at the variety of such exotic fruits, the old man gave a toothless grin as he offers him a slice of real China to try, the Nashi pear. Its unforgettable smell and crisp juicy taste instantly cemented his sense of residence in Shanghai, now his city to live and work.

For Nicolas, Shanghai has a special place in his memory, as it was the origin of his training process as a perfumer.

This creation represents the union between modernity and the characteristic tradition of the city. The fragrance opens with an outflow of juicy NASHI PEAR, a symbol of Chinese tradition as well as Asian culture. In its most floral part, the CHINESE PEONY stands out, providing colour and freshness, while in the background, a soft AMBER lingers and gives the fragrance great strength.

NICOLAS BEAULIEU
Living in a tiny village near Provins, in a small house with a garden, the smell of farms, fields, flowers and spices from his mother’s cooking constantly surrounded him and he liked it without realising why. A careers advisor suggested he visit ISIPCA, and that was the start of what, he feels, was good fortune in finding his true vocation in life.

Humble and somewhat unpretentious Nicolas loves to travel and is obsessed with nature. He loves the feel of the soil between his fingers. As his career has developed and grown, he is also concerned with the sustainability of natural raw materials. Emotion is a word that is key for this remarkable perfumer, being the driving force for each of his highly successful creations.
