The story of a Sicilian dynasty that has known glory, wealth and power. Quattro Pizzi, the most iconic palace that was home to Palermo’s most symbolic and prominent families.

The Palazzina dei Quattro Pizzi in Palermo is one of the most particular buildings that characterises the architecture of Palermo. It was commissioned by Vincenzo Florio who, after having bought the complex of the tonnara dell’Arenella in 1830, commissioned his friend Carlo Giachery to transform the latter into a noble residence. The Palazzina, in neo-Gothic style, takes its name from the four turrets or spears which emerge from the roof. The Quattro Pizzi palace, surrounded by the exclusive ‘scenography’ of the Palermo sea, is the last home of Vincent Florio III.

If you take a look at the packaging of the Quattro Pizzi perfume, you’ll notice a man and a woman. These figures are representative of Donna Franca and her husband Ignazio Florio, an Italian entrepreneur and politician, member of the rich Florio economic dynasty, one of the wealthiest Italian families during the late
19th century. Franca married the entrepreneur and ship-owner Ignazio Florio Jr., heir of the Florio family’s economic empire at 19 years old. It is said that Donna Franca Florio’s pearl necklace, with 365 pearls, one for each day of the year, was a present from her husband, begging forgiveness for his many affairs.

Quattro Pizzi really reflects the story of Donna Franca Florio. The scent recalls the heat of the Sicilian summer, surrounded by wealth and power. It is also reminiscent of adultery and forbidden love affairs, much like the ones Ignazio Florio Jr had. Quattro Pizzi has Tuberose among its notes. The Tuberose, in Victorian times, was symbolised as “dangerous pleasure”. It is also known for its aphrodisiac powers in perfumery with its scent becoming stronger once the sun has gone down, which signifies the passion and affairs that took place in the marriage, almost telling the story through the scent’s notes.

Heat and passion unravel through the notes of this scented story ahead of Sicily’s breathtakingly beautiful backdrop. A juxtapose of sweet and spicy hits the senses on first spray with Rum, Davana and Pink Pepper, where the intoxicating notes of Tuberose enchant and seduce at the heart, a sensual scent that lingers like a lover’s forbidden touch on the skin long after the sun goes down.

A perfume reminiscent of the Belle Époque era, where love, beauty and nobility entwine with secrecy and sin.
